As we prepare sports calendar year 2011 – 2012, we would like the THANK YOU/”SALAMAT GID” for your never ending generosity in support of the USLS Women’s Volleyball Team-Lady Stingers’ successful participation in the premier Women’s Volleyball League in the Philippines, the 2011 SHAKEY’S V-League Season 8, representing NOPSSCEA, our City and Region 6 last April 3 – May 19, 2011 at san Juan Arena, San Juan City. We’ve won the bronze medal (3rd Place) and two (2) individual awards: Patty Orendain as BEST SCORER and April Ross Hingpit as the BEST SERVER. This was so far, the best ever accomplishment of a provincial team in the 8th year history of SHAKEY’S V-League.

The 3rd place finish and the experience we learned from playing against the top nine (9) teams from Metro Manila and Cebu were more than enough to help our team to be better in the next season of SHAKEY’S V-League. We lost some games but we fought well and won the admiration and support not only of our increasing number of fans but most especially of the organizers, sponsors and our number one supporter and benefactor, the Mayor of San Juan, Mayor Guia Gomez and adopted Home of the USLS Lady Stingers-The City of San Juan.

Again, in behalf of all the players and Coaching Staff, THANK YOU SO MUCH /SALAMAT GID and we do hope that you will still support us in our future participation not only in the SHAKEY’S V-League but also in other local, regional and national Volleyball competitions.

God Bless.

A religious leader, school administrator and an advocate, who had reached out to marginal communities and sent dozens of poor but deserving students to school, was accorded with the 2010 Banwahanon Award on 19 October 2010 in ceremonies highlighting Bacolod City’s Charter Day celebration.

Right Rev. Monsignor Noly A. Que, LRMS, Ph.D, who was also a Dungganon Award recipient last year, takes centerstage anew as he will be cited for his numerous accomplishments in the fields of education, religious and charity work and civic involvement in Bacolod City and elsewhere in the Philippines.

Msgr. Que, former St. John’s Institute administrator, is currently parish priest of the Queen of Peace Church. At the SJI, he saw through the construction of three major buildings– the Beatitudes, the House of Formation of the Congregation of St. Martha, a congregation of religious sisters with the main house of formation in Taiwan and the new high school building named Don Angelo King Learning Center—as well as the completion of the North Point Branch of St. John’s Institute in Talisay City.

He also launched the Msgr. John B. Liu and Msgr. John Su-Gawad Kalinga Village, Handumanan sang Hua Ming, with 50 houses built turned over to 50 families who lived as squatters.

A sports buff, who dabbles in basketball and other sports in his spare time, Msgr. Que also served as president of the Negros Occidental Private School Sports Cultural Educational Association, under whose term the NOPSSCEA was able to acquire a 2,000-square meter lot at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Mansilingan, through usufruct from the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.

He also oversaw the completion of the Phase I of the NOPSSCEA office with the last two phases already in the pipeline to include a dormitory and an activity center.

NOPSSCEA’s membership rose to 56 during his term that also saw the publication of the first-ever NOPSSCEA Newsletter and the amendment of the NOPSSCEA Constitution and By-Laws.

NOPSSCEA president, Dr. Rosario J. De Guzman, received an official notice of Msgr. Que’s award from Banwahanon Awards Committee chairman Modesto P. Sa-onoy few days ago, being the nominator.

“The NOPSSCEA family is proud of Msgr. Noly. The Banwahanon Award is testimonial to his selfless dedication to reach out to the less privileged, and serve others beyond the call of duty. His recognition by the city will certainly be a source of inspiration to many,” De Guzman said.

As a community and church leader, the former NOPSSCEA president, he established several livelihood programs to augment the income of the marginally needy families in the Queen of Peace Parish. He spearheaded in putting up a tailoring and dress shop that sews the dresses, pants and uniforms of the students and school personnel of SJI and the Queen of Peace Parish.

He helped set up a handicraft group, whose products are currently sold in department stores like SM Shoemart, and a trisikad business – 20 trisikads were raffled off to indigent families to provide them with a source of income. His Light a Bulb, Send a Child to School, now on its Season 5, already has 104 scholars: 60 elementary pupils, 30 high school students and 14 college students.

Msgr. Que, who holds a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry from the San Carlos Graduate School of Theology in Makati City, completed his Doctor of Philosophy, Major in Educational Management degree in 2002 at the University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City. He also earned his Masters in Business Administration in 2008 from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos. He finished his studies with honors. He was granted the honorary prelate title by no less than Pope Benedict XVI for Exemplary Service to His Flock in 2009.
